I'm going to MURDER HIM

Question Posted Monday June 27 2005, 4:51 pm

Okay, so just to set the record straight, my brother is a DUMBASS and cannot be left without the guidance of my parents without doing something completely stupid. He is 17 freaking years old and you'd figure he wouldn't be as dumb. Somehow, Lord only knows how, but somehow, he spilled a half a galon of laundry detergent on the tiled laundry room floor. Of course, he says it wasn't him and leaves it there for ME to clean up. Now, me being the younger sister, shouldn't it be the other way around? He has to clean up MY messes? I'm 16 by the way. So now, there is laundry detergent all over the floor, under the washer and dryer and I have NO clue how the hell I'm supposed to clean this mess up. We have a guest coming over at 6:30 today (it's 4:50 over here now) and I don't know how I'm supposed to clean this mess, and the rest of the house up in time. Does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to clean this up? ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and you have no need to tell me to murder my brother because I'll do that as soon as he gets home from work.

Additional info, added Monday June 27 2005, 5:04 pm:
As *ashlee* had STUPIDLY asked if it was a powder of liquid, it's LIQUID detergent. If it was powder, I wouldn't be sitting here asking how to clean up the mess. I'm not retarded. And no, I can't just mop it up because I tried that on a small section of it and it just made it worse. If anyone has any BRIGHTER ideas, they would be more so appreciated..

Yowza! You must be fuming.

Don't use water, it will make the place foam up and that'll be even worse. First, sweep it up the best you can into the dustpan. Then, Use lots of soft rags and old towels to wipe it off the floor. Don't use water, it will make the place foam up and that'll be even worse. For the really tight spots just wipe it up and don't sweep. If there's a foul stench in the room from concentrated detergent, spray some lemon juice in a spray bottle into the center of the room.

hope i helped!!!

1) If your parents are there available (cell phone?) ask them for advice. Otherwise...

2) Rags and towels to get most of it up. It will take a lot of work, and a lot of rags, but it should work. Set them outside when they are full of detergent.

The mop might work if you try it with a dry mop and wring it out really well each time you rinse, but if that's what you tried last time, scratch that.

3) Finish getting what's left on the floor with the mop, and everything else with a wet cloth (lots of rinsing and wringing involved)

4) Take all of the rags that are outside, rinse them out really well (not into plant areas, maybe into the street), then take them inside and wash them in the washer. It'll probably be a full load.

Calm down. I know you're angry at your brother (who wouldn't be?), but I think you're overreacting. Don't take it out on ashlee, you didn't tell us if it was powder or liquid. And yes, we've had lots of stupid questions before (look at the view questions page), so we can't assume everyone's question is smart.

I do agree with ashlee that you are wasting your time typing all of this. There's no guarantee anyone will give you any bright ideas to clean up the liquid, so you might be wasting your time in the first place.

Let me ask you this. Is the laundry room important? Are the guests going to sit and chat in that room? Are they even going to see it? I say you should use your time wisely and clean up the rest of the house. If you have time left, you should clean up the laundry room. As for how to clean up the liquid, I don't have any other bright ideas except for using a LOT of paper towels.

Just take a deep breath and calm down. Good luck with cleaning up.

ok first..no he shouldnt be the one cleaning up your messes. your not three. you should both clean up your own messes. plus..it seems to me like your wasting a lot of time sumbitting questions and waiting for responses, when you have a whole house to clean. is the detergent a powder? if so move the damn washer out and sweep the shit up, takes about two minutes. if its liquid, mop it up. its not brain surgery.
you also just proved that your retarded. you cant figure to soak up the mess by the phrase "mop" dont scrub it up dumbass soak it up with a mop.
