Kool-Aid hair dye

Question Posted Monday June 27 2005, 12:59 pm

i wanna dye my hair but my parents wont let me do anything. i heard about dying your hair with kool-aid and i thought it would be cool to just do my hair tips red, so i could easily get my hair cut and it would come out. i have long hair so i could get it cut and it wouldnt be a problem. i have bown hair, and its like a tinybit lighter than normal brown. would it work for my hair? how do you do it? do you just soak it for a while? if so how long? i ave the kool-aid and everything, so i would apreciate it if some one could help out. thanks xoxox

yeah, my friend Lizzie did it, and it worked just fine. I'm not really sure how she did it but I would imagine you pour the koolaid into a container and miz a little water in there and soak it. The koolaid washes out(after 2-3 days), so you dont have to worry about cutting it!

I hope I helped!

I wouldn't dye it with kool-aid. It turns out badly. I have never done that but I know people who have. <3

Yeah my friend did that with her hair. NOTGOOD!! i MEAN IT It dont even really work. She dipped it in coolain for like an hour and it made her hair even darker because brown doesnt work with cool-aid. Because its liquid it sinks in. If yuou had blonde hair then its diffrent. Sorry. But at wal-mart go to the hair isles. The have a really bright red and its a thick jel so it looks and stays red. But dont put too much on. its a pain to get off.!! I.H.I.H.

Ignore the roots one below if you only want your tips done.

You're hair is too dark to be dyed from kool-aid - you will need to lighten it first. This can be done with hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice, though I don't know about harmful effects it may have on your hair.

Anyway, if you get your hair blonde (or close to it), use a VERY DARK red kool-aid, and only put enough water to make it not sludge - a little thicker than water is fine, but too much water and it won't take. If you don't lighten your hair before hand, it will just look darker, with a slightly red appearance.

If you soak all your hair in it, the koolaid slowly goes to the roots, when you see your roots start to change color, then pull your hair out. It works best if you have a mirror.
