Your best bet would be to have a jeweller evaluate it. Although it's true that diamond scratches glass, so do many other minerals, including common quartz, and imitation diamonds, such as cubic zirconia.

Well, one of the things you can do is go find a piece of glass that you don't need to use or something ( MAKE SURE YOU DON'T WANT IT/NEED IT ) and then take the "diamond" and scratch on the glass.. if it leaves a scratch mark, that means that its a real diamond.

you have to take it to a store like macy*s, or sears, of JCPenney, and if you go to the jewelers department, and get it checked, they'll tell you! it costs about 5 bucks!

if you dont mind sparing a mirror, you can take the "diamond" and scrath it on the morrior. If the "diamond" scratches the mirror badly, then it is real.
