Question Posted Wednesday June 15 2005, 5:06 pm

Is it true that not eating can make you GAIN weight rather than lose it?

(it's not that I'm planning on not eating, it's just a question)

I`ve heard this is true. Because it slows down your metabolism.

Hey,

I have heard that too....but its not actually true. What your body does is eat the fat that you have. Ex.....if you have a big booty....han you body will start using that fat as a supliment. Your still going to be hungry, but it will hold your stomach a bit. Hope i have helped.

If you just quit eating altogether, you would not GAIN weight. If your body is not taking in nutrients, it cannot get larger. It will just waste away.

However, when you are not eating, your metabolism slows down, which means it takes longer for your body to burn the fat that is already has. So if you didn't eat for a while, and then you started eating the same as you did to stay at your weight before, you would gain, since your body would metabolise the food slower.

Confusing, I know! I hope that helps!

Okay, TRUST ME.. I KNOW the answeR to this one:

The human body functions in a "PRimal SuRvival Mode". You see, it Responds accoRdingly to anything it peRceives as a possible thReat to its suRvival. ERGO, if you depRive youR body of laRge amounts of nutRients, you aRe thReatening its suRvival. In Response, youR body kicks into its "PRimal SuRvival Mode" and holds onto whateveR it possibly can foR futuRe needs and puRposes. Make sense?

BUT... SO THEY SAY!!!!!!!! And I'm shoRe it's definitely tRue.. but TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.. you lose weight like a BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

yes, you lose all the weight while you are not eating and then when you start to eat you gain weight because your metabolism slows down.

FoxyBeFun answered Wednesday June 15 2005, 5:14 pm:
No, you won't gain weight. But when u first stop eating your body will store the fat that you already have, and you wont lose the weight. Eventually if you eat under 500 calories a day your bodys matabolism will slow down, so when you do start eating again your body wont burn calories as fast as it did before.

no because food has calories.. and if you don't eat you will burn up all your calories and then you will start to burn the ones you have stored until there are not many other calories to burn and then you start to deteriorate... hope i helped..

yes it can make you gain weight. your body realizes that its not getting enough of its foods, so it holds onto all your fats and sugars so it can use them later. when your body has to start using them, thats when you start to lose weight
