Take her to the vet and tell them that she was goin to have surgery but now she is waking better and you just want to make shure that everything is ok b4 you cancel the surgery. Because she my feel better but that does not mean that it is. If you were not to take her then she might live but later on in her life it could get worse..much worse.

ok, all you have to do is report the news to a docter and delay the surgery for later until you get news from the docter about what would be best!

take her back to the vet. they know best! i would probably say no because if she is getting better there is no use in making her go through the surgery. but just to be sure..i would ask the vet! kay? hope i helped!

i personely think you should get her checked just to make sure. if you dont get her checked right away then you could just watch her to see if anything changes. hope shes okay!

you should get her checked to see if she still needs the surgery. you never know, it might just be better for now and suddenly get worse that before.

Don't listen to someone who will say "of course the vet will say she needs surgery because it will make them money"

I have never met a Veterinarian who said something that wasn't true, just to get more money. Veterinarians DO NOT make a lot of money, so they go into the profession for the love of animals, not for money.

Now, I'll give you my opinion of this.

Animals instinctually DO NOT show that they are in pain. Your dog may be hiding her limp because that's what her instincts tell her to do.

Animals are different than humans. Humans get hurt, they complain so that someone will make them feel better. But, when an animal (in the wild) gets hurt, and they complain, or show that they're hurt, then they are the first to be attacked, eaten, etc.
This is why dogs and cats rarely ever show us that they are hurt. I had a dog with arthritus, but no one could see him limp, except for the people who knew how to look for it, and where to look for it. He hid the fact that he was limping because of his instincts.

I think this is what your dog is doing. Smokey is walking better because she doesn't want anyone to know that she's hurt. Instinctually, she thinks that she will get hurt, attacked, or thrown away if she can't walk as good.

You need to go to the Veterinarian, they will probably need to get some x-rays, and only then will they be able to tell if she really is well enough.

If you don't know how to look, then it's nearly impossible to tell whether an animal is sick or hurt.

Hey,

I have the same problem with my dog. The doctor told me that it is b/c she jumps from high place (bed, couch etc). The Dr. gave my dog a pill and it made her better.....shes not limping anymore. If the Dr. hasnt givin her a pill ask him to. We still havent tooken the dog to get the surgery b/c she is better. It is up to you and your Dr.(ofcourse the Dr. is going to say that she should have the surgery......juss to get $$ out of you). So its mainly up to you. But think about the concequensesn that i may bring you and your dog on the future. Hope i have helped.

I would highly recommend going to the dog's doctor and asking them that question, just so you know what to do with Smokey.

Sometimes injuries get better...but they don't go away completely. She might be doing good now but re hurt herself easily. I think she will probably need to have the surgery anyway. Your vet will know for sure when he checks her out. :)

Karen answered Monday June 13 2005, 4:50 pm:
None of us know the exact answer to this, except one or two people who know about animals, and only your dog's veterinarian will know. Your dog may need it but then again, I don't know exactly. Talk to your dog's veterinarian and you'll find out.

That's not for any of us to determine, it's for her vet to determine. Take her back to the vet and have them check out her leg again, if they say she can go without the surgery, then she can go without it. She may still need it even though she seems to be walking fine.
