No, you don't have to be rich to be popular (well, in my school that is.) It is mostly about the people they hang with,their confidence,if your cool and if you can get along with alot of people. Some of the popular kids in my school aren't rich at all and i live in a rich community. This girl in my school who is such a biatch to me and a lot of people she is popular because her best friends are popular and it is like a mini plastic group. She has a lot of problems because she is poor,not good looking at all,has a messed up family and can't afford the most fashionable clothes and borrows or even steals her friends clothes. She'll even steal anything from anyone like mirrors,jewelry and makeup. She always shows off that she wears MAC makeup and whenever she got a new eyeshadow she'll just keep braggin. And others they have really fake Louis Vuitton and Coach bags pretending that itz real. And then there is this guy in my school who isn't popular(considered a loser to some people) but then just rich and wears versace clothes each day. ♥ Peachgirly

ohk well ima tell you whats up ! in order to be popular you gotta know alot of people. because you can be the richest person in the world and have only a few friends. for example in my school, there are two types of popular preppies, yeah they are kinda of like rich they wear abercrombia and holliester, the other popular is (my pplz) the "ganstas" and we aint poor but we dont got as much money as the preppy people do. so no you dont have to be rich ! we totally out-number the preppies in our school ! GANSTA is the new POPULAR !!!! ♥

You don't have to be rich to be popular. Most people at my school are popular for having good style, being nice, being social, and just plain being themselves. You don't have to be a Britney Spears to be popular. I know you may want to be popular, but it's so not everything. When you're going through college then finding a job, do you think popularity is going to matter? Nope, it's not. You go to school to learn and make good friends, not to be the most popular girl in school. Just be yourself and if a lot of people like it, you'll be popular. You shouldn't have to change anything about yourself to be well liked. There's a cool quote by Paris Hilton::
"Just be yourself. If people don't like it, then fuck them." =)

You in no way have to be rich to be popular! Being popular is about being liked by everyone & I'll admit people are attracted to rich kids but only because they think they're gonna get some of that cash which in reality they aren't. Sure, you could say it gives you an advantage but popularity comes from a mixture of things. For examples, beauty, grades, friends, & personality count for alot. If you're really confident & social then you have a good chance of becoming popular.
At my school, there aren't really "popular" kids but there is a clique of girls that alot of girls want to hang with. I'm kind of in the group & kind of not since I have a lot of friends who aren't.
Basically, here's a guide to being popular, maybe it will help you out. I'll also add this to my advice column so others can make the most out of it. =]
-Confidence
This has GOT to be the most important factor of everything. Ever seen Mean Girls? That's not the only movie but one that really shows you an in depth look at "high school royalty". The girls who are looked up to as "popular" are extremely confident. They don't even have to be that pretty, just assured & know that they are the best.
-Social
Some people think that to be popular, you have to be mean to everyone. THAT'S a lie. If you look up the definition of popular it tells you that it's the act of being well liked by the majority. How do you expect to be well liked if you're nasty to everyone? The key is to be nice & befriend everyone. Along with confidence, it'll make you UNSTOPPABLE.
-Fashion Sense/Beauty
I combined the 2 of these because they kind of work hand in hand. Being popular has alot to do with the way you look, whether it's the clothes you're wearing, the makeup on your face or how you do your hair. People admire you on a multitude of levels & overall attraction helps. I'm not telling anyone to go out & get plastic surgery, just keep yourself looking your best =].

ok, i go to a private school and their are no "popular" kids, sept me, all you really have to do is know everyone. No you dont have to be rich. Usually the popular crowd are people who are just really mean, sexually active, sluts, hors, junkies, no-brainers, or wannabees. Just meet more people, and you'll be popular in a GOOD way. Trust me! lol. Hope i helped!

haha no hunny you dont need to be rich to be popular.. i am deffinitley not rich at all!! and im one of the most popularest girl in school. my best friend is too and her mom is a nail stylist (not rich at all) so dont worry about it! you DONT have to be rich in order to be popular!
