cynicalladvice answered Sunday June 12 2005, 10:25 pm: It really depends on your legs, but it doesn't get thicker, it just looks thicker sometimes because of the way it's cut. And veet sort-of worked for me, it made my legs look hair-free, but they were still all prickly after wrds (I think it's cuz of all the bleach that's in it. If you use veet, make sure you follow the directions, cuz you don't want to burn your skin. [ cynicalladvice's advice column | Ask cynicalladvice A Question ]
xooLEMONADEoxx13 answered Saturday June 11 2005, 12:16 am: it lasts way more than 8 hours. i don't know about veet but it might be dangerous for sensetive skin. i never really experimented it growing back thicker. my mom didn't want me to shave but i convinced her by saying that i'm growing up and it's just something i have to do.
She'll come around. [ xooLEMONADEoxx13's advice column | Ask xooLEMONADEoxx13 A Question ]
fall_to_pieces answered Friday June 10 2005, 8:52 pm: shaving your legs does make your hair come back thicker.
waxing is better than shaving...its more money, time and effort, but the hair won't come back as fast.
nair works pretty well too. [ fall_to_pieces's advice column | Ask fall_to_pieces A Question ]
HyperactiveMiss answered Friday June 10 2005, 7:36 pm: Shaving does make your hair thicker and sometimes it can leave your legs looking nasty. My best advice to you would be to use waxing. A little more effort and money, but at least you won't have to do it again until a few weeks! [ HyperactiveMiss's advice column | Ask HyperactiveMiss A Question ]
sweeTie3 answered Friday June 10 2005, 1:28 pm: well for a fact, when you shave your legs..it grows back thicker. i kno it sucks. i mean like when it gets thicker, you just get into the habit of shaving--so it doesnt actually come back looking horrible bcuz by the tyme it grows out again youll prob be shavin again. never ending process..haha
how long does it last? well it depends on wut kinda legs you have..mine last for a week..but you can see like the lil stubs but tht doesnt matter bcuz its not noticeable. if your talking bout like NOT seeing it at all..umm 10 hours..like your friend.
xXxpinky615xXx answered Friday June 10 2005, 12:43 pm: I was watching Urban Myths and no, it's not true even though I think it's a load of bullshit. The first time you shave your legs it does appear to grow back thicker. But that only happens the first 2-3 times you shave. It all depends on the actual thickness of your hair. I have very dark, thick, coarse hair so I have to shave every day because it's very thick. Many girls can get away without shaving for a few days maybe even a week. And Veet doesn't work- At all. It says not to leave it on for no more than 8 minutes. Since I have thick hair I left it on for 10 minutes and what a shock! Nothing happened. whatyousay32 answered Friday June 10 2005, 12:28 pm: i did it behind my mums back.. stupid thing to do to be honest becuse she knew that i was shaving all along.. and it was a pain trying to hide it. So i would try and talk to your mom bout it but if you don't then:
get a disposable razor- change it like once a week
use soap, and lather it up REALLY GOOD so you don't get razor burn!! which hurts BAD!!!
also make sure you always use lotion on your legs after you shave
and be extreamly careful even the first time because it will be hard to hide a cut from your mom!!!
good luck!!
caitlin
( oh and it doesn't grow thicker, but faster, and veet is not a good product it dries out your legs, makes them flaky and still leaves you hary!! so i wouldn't recomend it.. plus it smells bad) [ whatyousay32's advice column | Ask whatyousay32 A Question ]
JamesBaybiGurl answered Friday June 10 2005, 11:13 am: Hey Sweetie,
Well from my friends Ive talked to they said they wouldnt reccomend "VEET" it doesnt work they just make it seem like it does specially the commercial I mean come on who believes that. But yeah your hair will somewhat grow faster but the thickness kinda depends for me it doesnt but like my cousin she has like thick hair that grows back So I dont know about all the stuff about it growing in thick but I do know for a fact that Veet does not work, So just stick to the razor and shaving cream thats best!
Mackenzie answered Friday June 10 2005, 10:11 am: **PeRsonally, I've neveR tRied 'Veet', but my fRiend's have. They told me it was the BIGGEST JOKE... ALONG WITH the 'Intuition' RazoR!! I've neveR heaRd ANYTHING but bad Reviews on those two pRoducts.
**And foR ME, yes, the haiR DOES INDEED gRow back THICKER; many of my fRiends have complained about this to me, but peRhaps it doesn't happen to EVERYONE?????
**And as foR HOW LONG it will last... that vaRies fRom peRson to peRson; it's just all a matteR of youR peRsonal haiR gRowth. So foR youR fRiend it may only last 8 houRs, sometimes NOT EVEN!!! FoR me, peRsonally, I had a good thRee days of being peRfectly smooth. The only way to find out is to shave YOURS.
If you *do* decide to shave youR legs, heRe's some tips:
--- NEVER dRy shave.
--- Find a shaving cReam/gel you'Re happie with.
--- If you can't go out and puRchase shaving gel, use a baR of soap and latheR youR legs up REALLY good, but keep it moist and latheRy.. don't let it soRt of dRy out.
--- If you CAN puRchase shaving gel, I Recommend 'Skintimate's Shaving Gel' oR 'BaRbasol Shaving Cream".
--- Always, always, always shave upwaRds, peRiod.
--- Use a good RazoR, and change it often, if not EVERY time.
--- Yes, disposable RazoRs aRe fine.
--- Apply shaving, apply lotion to help moistuRize, and help pRevent RazoR buRn.
--- DO NOT shave daily!! TRy eveRy otheR two days oR so.
SWANKiFiED answered Friday June 10 2005, 9:53 am: Hey hun, I'm here to help! Okay, the "thicker" thing is a TOTAL myth. It just grows in FASTER but not THICKER. My legs can stage shaved for up to 2 days. I can't imagine why hers would only stay up to 8 hours. Parents make shaving out to be way more of a big deal than it really is. Try talking to your mom about it & how it's summer & you want to feel more confident about your legs. Good luck! If you have any more questions, let me know!
