OrangeChikn answered Tuesday June 7 2005, 11:23 am: First, scan and see if you still have the virus. I got that same virus through AIM (specifically the games) and to get rid of it, unfortunately I had to format my computer.
x0xMrSm answered Tuesday June 7 2005, 9:36 am: yeah thats what happened to me and my dad had to wipe the hard drive and then we had to start from scratch, like when we first got our comp. it will work. [ x0xMrSm's advice column | Ask x0xMrSm A Question ]

Crystal49 answered Tuesday June 7 2005, 12:33 am: Mackenzie's suggestion may work. It really depends on what kind of virus you have here.
Try her solution before trying mine.
If the type of virus you have is a trojan virus then it wont be so easy to get rid of because most of them install themselves in the system32 folder and there are litterally thousands of files in there. System restore isn't guaranteed to get rid of the virus so if you continue having problems then you might want to try this. I've done it many times and it's been pretty succesful for me. I just hope I can explain it well enough...
Turn off system restore and restart your computer. Go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and use their free virus scan option. It will download the latest definitions to your computer and then do a scan. After scanning turn system restore back on. Do another virus scan. Stop here if it doesn't detect a virus.
If it still finds a virus then turn off system restore again, reboot into safe mode and do a scan. After scanning, reboot into normal mode and turn your system restore back on. This seemed to work for me.
If you're not sure how to do any of the stuff I just mentioned, here's the steps:
To turn off system restore right click on my computer-->properties-->click on the system restore tab--> put a check mark in the turn off system restore box & then click apply. To turn it back on simply remove that check mark and click apply.
To get into safe mode, if needed, while your computer is restarting hit f8, a black screen with a white lettered menu will come up asking you how you would like to start up your computer. choose "SAFE MODE" and hit enter.
I suck at explaining things so if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on aim: Crystal8888888

Mackenzie answered Monday June 6 2005, 11:24 pm: Nooo idea; BUT............ I have a link you get nuke it with: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) . Go theRe, and just click DOWNLOAD. It's 100% FREE.. downloads in SECONDS.. and DOES NOT download ANY otheR cRap, ya know!?!? Once it's downloaded, save it somewheRe, and Run it. It will kick you off AIM, foR about 10 seconds while it scans foR the AIM viRus. Once deleted, you can sign Right back on. It's SPECIFICALLY an AIM ViRus.. meant to detect EVERY one!! I've used it a couple times... woRked EVERY time!!!!!!!!!! Goodluck!! Hope this helps!! =D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
poa answered Monday June 6 2005, 11:22 pm: It depends, odds are you have a virus in a folder that virus scanners wont go through (some operating systems come with viruses installed (which are not malicious, but they are there)) its a common tactic, you may want to try manually searching for the virus or clearing out your master boot record.
