911 Tape/Transcript Request - Very Important

Question Posted Sunday June 5 2005, 3:45 pm

Does anyone know how I can request a transcript or tape from a 911 call? I've searched online but didn't find anything that was useful. Its really important for family purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Well under the Freedom of Information Act, you are entitled to a copy of that tape. But I am not sure how you go about it. You may need a lawyer. Why not look up" Freedom of Information Act, on the internet and maybe it will help you file the papers necessary to get a copy of the tape. Maybe the forms are available on line too.
HOpe this helps.

Well, I don't think that you should try to use the website unless you know a website that is local to the place where you report 911 callings. You should at least look for the 911 service in your town that's local to you(maybe a city or a county where you live). If that doesn't help, then you should maybe go to the police department in your community,or perhaps a court house that may dwell in your community. If you choose to go to either one of these though, you'll have to give a very legitimate excuse to receive a document as such. If I were you, I'd really take some evidence to put great emphasis on your need of the 911 document. And possibly, if you know where the 911 place is, you could receive it possibly with a legitimate excuse. To find out, you probably want to ask a police department, fire department, etc. Otherwise, I know nothing else to do. I hope I was some help and have a nice day. Good luck.
