Ok I'm 13/F . I will be starting a competative swim team tomorrow morning and it will last all summer. I will have practices 1 hour for 3 days a week and a swim meet (competion) every Thursday for 3 hours. My question is, can I expect to lose a few unwanted inches on my stomach, thighs and legs with all this swimming? (Im hoping maybe 2 maybe 3 in on thighs, 1 or 2 on stomach an 1 or 2 on arms) I'll rate!! :) thanx! <3

amsybethers914 answered Sunday June 5 2005, 5:04 pm: yeah...as long as you are on a good, healthy diet...because if you still eat junk food and stuff it wont help that much...so just stay on a healthy diet and you should lose your unwanted inches!!...=] [ amsybethers914's advice column | Ask amsybethers914 A Question ]
luv2swim109 answered Sunday June 5 2005, 4:47 pm: im in swimming too but mwe have much longer practices than you. i have it five days a week...three days for 1 1/2 hours and two for 2 hours. and at swim meets you bearly swim at all so taht doesnt count. you might lose you tummy a little but as i said for just 3 hours a week it depends. if your coach gives you hard sets than yes you will lose more inches but not as many if you practiced for a longer period of time. just work hard and most likely you will get results. also it will definatly give you better thighs and legs. you can tell if it has made a difference by walking and looking to see if you muscules move on the outer side of your legs.
Jess5764 answered Sunday June 5 2005, 3:44 pm: no, if you're doing summer league swimming it won't do anything at all trust me those practices are insanely easy you might keep from getting fat but it most definatly wont help you lose weight [ Jess5764's advice column | Ask Jess5764 A Question ]
aliciadear answered Sunday June 5 2005, 3:36 pm: No sweetheart, it takes quite a bit more than that. Try 2 hours every morning of the week, and occasionally 2 more hours in the afternoon. And then try 3 day, 6 hour meets one or two weekends every month, and practice all year round. Then you can call it a "competitive swim team". No, you won't lose anything. nice try though =D [ aliciadear's advice column | Ask aliciadear A Question ]

swimming works a ton of muscles all over your body so it's always a good way to lose weight and a few unwanted inches. so have hope!
shake answered Sunday June 5 2005, 2:53 pm: Most likely. If that doesnt work.
Hog tie yourself to your cieling fan and turn it on high. Get people to shoot paintball guns at you while you struggle to get out of the tie. You'll lose a lot of weight from getting out of it. [ shake's advice column | Ask shake A Question ]
