Question Posted Friday May 20 2005, 11:20 pm

Im in chorus at my school. I love singing and the class is sooo fun..my teacher is the best and i love singing at concerts. We just did The Phantom of the Opera and it was fun! I know that sounds corny but i really like it. I love being on stage. Well we had to sing for the graduates this yr and i felt embarrassed. We had to wear these lame chorus shirts and blue skirts. Everyone was laughing or snickering why we were singing..i felt soo embarrassed. All my friends make fun of me and im tired of it. Should i just quit chorus or what?

ok here's the thing: if you really love it, then you shouldn't care what other people say or do about it... most people miss out on so much b/c they worry too much about what others think about them

NOOOOO!

Most choir uniforms are stupid. That can't be helped. What's good is that you are having a great time singing. If people make fun of your uniform, make fun of it yourself. It works.

NO NO NO and NO again....DO NOT QUIT something that you find so passionate. I used to get laughed at myself and turned down a scholarship for opera singing for different reasons (I didn't have the confidence to go for it) I am so sure that people laughed at Mozart, and also Beethoven, but look at what those two alone accomplished! If you love what you are doing, and you feel that for yourself that it is right...don't let anyone else blow out your candle because they are too immature to see the true meaning in what you are doing.

Poppsie answered Saturday May 21 2005, 5:38 am:
No i wouldnt because you enjoy doing it and you love sining as you said. You shouldnt care what people think if you enjoy singing. If you are really considering quitting becuase poeple were laughing at you maybe you could talk to your teacher maybe asking to change what you have to wear to just white shirts and black trousers or skirts. If i was you i would just keeping on singing and be in the chorus and just ignore your friends because it doesnt sound like they are very good friends if they cannot accept that you like be in the chorus. Dont quit the chorus!! Hope this helped.

Don't quit chorus. Singing is the most magical and enchanting thing you can do with your voice. Nerver, ever give that up. I also sing and love it, so ask more if you need.
