Mackenzie answered Saturday May 21 2005, 11:19 am: I have "line bRows"; they'Re baRely theRe, so obviously I pluck them alllllllll away -- and it doesn't huRt me *ONE* bit! If you've neveR done this befoRe, I always Recommend *AFTER* a showeR one night, hold a *WET* and *HOT* cloth oveR youR eyebRows foR about 2 minutes -- the showeR allows youR poRes to open up, Releasing haiR a bit easieR, and then the hot cloth will loosen them up moRe, say if you dRied youR haiR befoRe doing youR bRows, ya know? This still will moRe than likely huRt some, but not *NEARLY* as much as it would have had you *NOT* used the hot cloth. It's kind of a bummeR that theRe's kind of no way aRound the pain at the beginning, but you just have to tell youRself that "pain is beauty", and it will all be woRth it in the end. AfteR youR done plucking them, oR even while you'Re STILL plucking them, the aRea aRound it tuRns a deep puRple and swells -- which is completely fine, and should be *GONE* by moRning, say foR school. AfteR a couple times of plucking them.. let's say ten.. you will have damaged the neRve endings, and the pain will just go away.. to the point wheRe afteR 30 times oR so.. you will have no pain at all -- like me; and that is a good thing!! PeRsonally, I think it's *DEFINITELY* woRth it, but that's just *my* opinion. Also, it's extRemely impoRtant to have good tweezeRs!! I *HIGHLY* suggest getting a slanted tip one; it's Really cRucial that you'Re comfoRtable with youR weapon - *haiR is the enemy*!! I took the libeRty of finding you some sites with tips and additional infoRmation; I think you'll find them useful: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ---AND--- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) . Take this slow, foR if you OVERPLUCK, you simply have to wait foR the haiR to gRow in again; and you can only fill in the mistakes with pencil, so take youR time. I wish you all the best of luck! Hopefully I've been of some help to you. Know that you can always come to me if you need anything else.. =D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
OnceABeautifulMess answered Friday May 20 2005, 1:08 am: hey! Like some of the advicenators said before, you don't HAVE to pluck/shave your eyebrows. Some of the hottest women in hollywood have natural eyebrows. Natural is what the guys go for anyways! But, if you are still sure you want to get your eyebrows shaped...I have a few suggestions.
1. Take a warm/hot towel/rag and place it over your eyebrows for a while. The heat will open up your pores a bit, and then try plucking. It still may hurt a bit, but TRUST ME...it wont be as bad! Also remember, once you get the first pluck out of the way, it gets way easier! Try only plucking a little bit at a time to avoid "over plucking"
2. You can try stuff like Nair's Facial Hair remover...I personally have not done this, but it may be worth it
3. Waxing may be an option as well...it hurts like hell, but is over with in just seconds and the hair won't grow back for a while! I recommend nad's
Sporkster answered Thursday May 19 2005, 9:25 pm: Just don't worry about them unless they're overly bushy or gross. I had my eyebrows plucked into almost non-existence and I'm still waiting for them to grow back in. Don't worry about it. I mean, people aren't going to be walking around going "HOLY FREAKIN' CHEESE CRACKERS, That girl's eyebrows are weird!" And if they do, well...that's just weird. You've probably got lovely eyebrows as they already are. Just wait a while!
