there is a school swimming party that is coming up, the time that i have my period!! and it will only be the 2nd time that i have had it, but can someone give me advice on what to do when you have to swim, but you dont know how to use a tampon?? can you just use a thin pad? i will rate! and its coming up real soon! thanks to much!
mrs_radcliffe answered Tuesday May 10 2005, 2:13 pm: No! pads wont work because they dont hold your period in. The pad will just go all soggy! If you really want to do swimming you will have to use a tampon. When you get the box of tampons read the instructions given. One main rule when incerting a tampon make sure your relaxed it helps to be relaxed!!! Have fun!

Now, as long as your flow isn't too heavy, you can probably swim without a tampon in. I used to do this in junior high when I was on swim team. According to my mom, the blood flow pretty much slows down when you're swimming. And I never had a problem with it. However, to be on the safe side, if you want to use a tampon that's probably not a bad idea.
Most tampon boxes have instructions on how to use a tampon in them. Or ask your mom, sister, or a friend. When you're buying them, try one with a plastic applicator (they're generally easier to use) or tampons specially made for teens or first-time users (Tampax Satin Teen were my first tampons- and I had no troubles) [ rainbowsend's advice column | Ask rainbowsend A Question ]

After my first one i didn't have my second till 5 months later. second of all, if you do in fact get your period during this pool party, you really should use a tampon. it is really really easy to put in (try tampax pearl they are super easy). the easiest way to put it in is right after a shower because you are more slippery (lol) but seriously tampons are the way to go. hope i helped, feel free to ask me anything again!
