mysticpixie05 answered Thursday May 5 2005, 1:31 pm: its a papsmear. and it is an exam given by a gyno. it is just to check and make sure everything is ok with a female. it tests to make sure you dont have any abnormalities such as cervical cancer. it is such a sample of cell that they get from the cervics. they get the sample and test it. doesnt take long to have done... less than a minute for your sample. you should get this exam atleast once a year. Especially if you are sexually active. hope this answers you question enough. [ mysticpixie05's advice column | Ask mysticpixie05 A Question ]

zapreth answered Thursday May 5 2005, 10:34 am: A papsmear is a test that a gynocologist gives a woman to check for cervical and uterine cancer and abnormal cells that can cause problems with your cycle and fertility. A tiny sharp ended brush is scraped against the cervics to collect cells. The tissue collected is then put on a slide to be tested in a lab. It doesn't hurt unless you are already irritated in that area. Even then it only stings a little and goes away immediately. It takes less than a minute to get the sample. Hope this was what you were asking about. [ zapreth's advice column | Ask zapreth A Question ]
