dreamingkat answered Saturday April 16 2005, 9:56 am: Friction is the word used to describe how hard it is to push something along something else. For instance, tile floors have less friction than carpet. It's easier to slide something along the tile than it is to slide it along the carpet.
Dictionary.com shows two main definitions:
1: the resistance encountered when one body is moved in contact with another [syn: rubbing]
2: a state of conflict between persons [syn: clash]
I described #1 above, and because even though they are using #2, it's not a "conflict" as in "I hate you", it's a conflict as in "why is it always more difficult when your involved?"
The person was probably trying to ask if you knew what was causing the problem between you that prevents things from being easy when you have to work together.
