Sour Milk smell, yuck!

Question Posted Thursday March 31 2005, 10:15 pm

Does anybody know a way to get rid of a sour milk smell? I spilled coffee with milk in it, and didnt even realize it until it started to smell...I've cleaned up the mess, burned incense, sprayed odor remover, I've tried everything, but my room still reeks. Anything I can do?

well if you have carpet.. borrow like a steam cleaner possibly from a neighbor or someone.. because those like deep clean your rugs, and then spray stuff.. the smell should totally go away in like a week.. it works believe me.

If this is on carpet, the problem may be that stuff has started to grow under the carpet in the padding. I don't know if you can easily remove a corner and pull it up to the spill, but if you can, you may want to try that and see if the mess is actually under the carpet.

Otherwise, if the club soda doesn't work (I don't use it, but it has a good reputation), baking soda does wonders. It always says "sprinkle" but I always use a nice liberal coating of it. Leave it on for several hours - preferably over night - and then vacuum it up.

ok try this if you want to. It's supposed to work on cat pee so sour milk should be EZ!
take a bottle of club soda
stick your finger inside and shake to get a fizz going.
With your finger still in bottle spray on milk stain.Get it wet but not soaking.
It say's the smell might be worse at first but that it will go away as it dries.
If you should try it let me know if it works :)

Febreeze works wonders, m'dear. Gets rid of the nastiest smells (yes...it even gets rid of the reek of cat urine). Wonderful stuff, 'tis.

Try Fabreeze/Febreeze, lmao I SO can't spell that. It should get it out, and it'll make it smell fresh and clean. There's two types I believe, one that takes out all the germs and one that gives a great smell, so I'd say get both! Hope I've Helped .. it will def work on getting rid of that yucky milk smell! ♥
