Question Posted Thursday March 24 2005, 1:26 am

okay, i screwed up my last question because english is my second language, so here we go again. i'm a skinny person and i don't really like food in general, but i really like veggies, fruits and all sorts of other healthy food. since i've been fasting for the last few weeks (i'm russian orthodox, that's what we do before easter), i thought about it, and realized that since i don't really suffer without meat, maybe i should become a vegetarian because i don't want to kill animals. maybe it won't really make that big of a difference and only clear my conscience, but then, as we say in russian, raindrops sharpen rocks (as in little things can make a difference). so, here's my question: how do i stay healthy and get all my vitamins? where can i get that information? and most of all, is it hard for a vegetarian to gain weight? because i was really hoping to gain my freshman 15 next year, i seriously need it. please don't answer unless you know what you're saying.

you can get protein powder, and mix it into a blender with fruits etc. and so you can get protein that beef and eggs usually give you. You can basically take health pills and vitamins. I hate killing animals, it's SO sad, I wish we wouldn't kill them. It's so sad, I saw a behind-the-scenes thing of slaughter houses, and IT WAS HORRIBLE. it looked like the chainsaw massacre *cry* I couldn't watch a minute of it, looking into those poor chickens and cows eyes...that was just a terrible sight, like they knew what was going to happen. Watching their family and friends die first...i'm a vegan. good luck hun, good decision :)

I'm a vegetarian and i have been for two years. For your first question to get all your protien and things that you get from meat you can always eat soy products like tofu. Tofu is your best bet. There are about a million and one sites on the internet about being vegetarian and really great books on it too. And for gaining the weight part i don't think so i never worried about my weight i just ate regularly. Hope i helped.

Hey okay if your worried about vitamins and nutrition just take a multi-vitamin supplement everyday. You know those 1-a-day vitamins. And no its not hard for a vegetarian to gain weight, I've seen a lot of "big" vegetarians!

ok, dont worry i no wat im saying. you shold be a vegitarian. it only makes sence. and vegitarians are very healthy and if you eat enough of the right vegetables, bread, fruits and dary products, you will live a long strong life. like eating eggs. eggs are a good source of protien. just keep your diet balanced. usually if you look at the label of the food it will tell you wat is it the food, like vitamins a minerals, and you can base your health off of that and your servings. and it can sumtimes be hard to gain wieght, but since vegitarian food is so healthy and rich in vitamins, you can aford to eat a lot and gain wieght, but not so much that it can hurt you. as eating a shit load of meat proportioned to vegetables, the meat would be very unhealthy. i hope i helped and i hope you understand wat im sayin lol good luck!
