I have a really bad problem with my hair. it's huge. It frizzy and thick and its so hard to manage. I was just wondering if there are any known products that can help me with my unmanageable hair. I've tried thinning, and cutting and many products with minimal success. Also straightening my hair takes about 3 hours and I really dont have that kind of time to spend on my hair. Please help!! I rate high for appropriate answers
GeezLouise answered Thursday March 24 2005, 7:00 am: my 11 year old step daughter has this same problem. her hair is really kinky curly--frizzy--kinda dry---and really long (when its wet...it goes down to the back of her thighs)
shes not here all the time...but when she is we try different products on her hair. you need a good leave in conditioner(redkin makes a good one) and getting your hair trimmed and thinned regularly will help too...theres really not much you can do unless you wanna sit there and straighten your hair every single day(and its really harsh on your hair too)...stay away from the heat and condition...condition...condition.i sometimes use up to four products in her hair at once...anti fizz serum...gel...conditioner.... oils....her hair just sucks it up.
but as long as her hair stays moist it is manageable....also when its wet like that it is much easier to manage as far as combing and styling...the knots are horrible when its a frizzy mop.
i know its frusterating...her biggest wish last year for her birthday was to wear her hair down with a headband...we spent alot of money and she cried alot of tears having her hair straightened...it was beautiful...although it only lasted till she got her hair washed.
we have even tried natural foods in her hair...i heard that olive oil was good for hair and mayonaise...the oil worked pretty good...but there are oils out there that are basically the same thing but smell really good too...go to sallys beauty supply...they have lots of nice hair products and dont be afraid to keep trying new things...there is something out there that will work for you...you just gotta keep looking.
iluvkel10 answered Wednesday March 23 2005, 5:55 pm: My hair is the same way very frizzy and very thick and it seems like nothing helps. I use bed head products the "control freak" to make ur hair straighter. Use the shampoo conditioner and the gellish stuff. When you get out of the shower use gells and syurms because i use two put together they work really well the bedhead control freak (green bottle) and gargner frucis is also in a green bottle they work well. Also try to blow dry your hair straight it works and get a ceramic flat iron and do ur hair in layers starting from the bottom. Hope i helped! [ iluvkel10's advice column | Ask iluvkel10 A Question ]
Karen answered Wednesday March 23 2005, 5:55 pm: The are gels and serums that will help "tone" your hair so it won't be so thick, frizzy, and such. John Freida's "Frizz-Ease" works pretty well and Paul Mitchell has some relaxers, serums, and other products that will help. If you do ever have the time to straighten your hair, straighten it in layers and that will help.

Shortie8959 answered Wednesday March 23 2005, 4:56 pm: Hey, try going to a salon and have it permed straight. I heard that works really well and I think it costs about $60-80 depending where you go. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

CrazyBeautiful answered Wednesday March 23 2005, 4:54 pm: I have the same problem, except mine is curly. Thinning really really thick hair can alot of times make it even thicker! I use Frizz Ease by John Frieda (all the products, they range from shampoos and conditioners to serums and gels) and it works wonders. I also used this easy straight thing that I bought at CVS on it and it made it more manageable. Tell me how this works for you!!! [ CrazyBeautiful's advice column | Ask CrazyBeautiful A Question ]
