He likes me, but I don't like him... Ahhhh!

Question Posted Wednesday March 23 2005, 9:59 am

Hey, you know Nelson Hardy right? Well he really likes me, and it's sad, because I really don't like him that way, he's sweet and all, but I just wouldn't ever go out with him. I know I should tell him, but I just can't get the guts. I went to a dance once with Amanda, and he asked me to dance. He's like, "I'm glad you said yes, cuz if you would have said no, I might not have ever asked anyone again." I felt so bad, now I'm afraid that if he asks me out and I say no, his self confidence will run even lower. What do I do?

People have to learn to accept rejection. He must come face-to-face with it as well. It's a part of life. He needs to find out. But you can help by doing it gently. People shouldn't be as hurt if you are truthful with them. Tell him exactly how you feel, he should understand.
