Talk to him. Try and stand out personality wize, but just dont like change your wardrobe. Be youself. Having a boy you like to nitice you is hard so the easyest is to try and become friends first, so try to talk regular convosations or maybe see if he needs help in class.

Maybe he really likes you, but he's hiding his feelings and pretending he only hangs out with you for the MP3 player. You could try saying "I don't have it with me today, but we can talk instead." If it's cool with him and he's enthusiastic about talking with you, then you definitely have a chance! Tell him how you feel! If he says "yeah, okay." but doesn't really seem to want to be with you, he probably doesn't like you but doesn't want to mean. Still, that's something, you should work to make him notice you. If he makes up an excuse to leave, he is just a jerk and you deserve way better than that so get over him.

its kinda obvious to me that he doesn't really like you, srry, and i think he like yur MP3 more than you, srry again. so i think that you might wanna forget about him cause he doesn't really show much interest in you yurself. and if he all of a sudden did, its again, for your mp3 playa. but, if you dont wanna 'leave' him i guess, i say try and talk to him more, and if you wanna see how it is goin dont bring youir mp3, and if talks to you it means its working, but if it doesn't, it means he loves yur mp3. i hope it all goes well.

Ask some of his friends who he likes and tell his friends to tell him to consider you as a girlfriend. Just try talking to him more and try to talk to him whenever you see him like at a football game or something.
