hair styles
My hair is wavy-ish straightish...kinda unruly. It's dark brown and a little longer than shoulder length and super layered with side swept bangs. For school I usually just use a straightening iron to make it stick straight. But I want to try some new styles...cute stuff, punk stuff, whatever!!! I want to keep it the same length though because I am growing it out. Anyone have any ideas??

well If you want punky you could try puttiong streaks on like a red or pink or green in it. Also try not straghting it or try flipping it outwards. hope i was felpful

My hair is the same. I'm not sure what kind of hairstyles you might be interested in, but here are a couple of ideas:
- Part your hair in half at the crown (one bottom layer and one top layer). Sweep the bottom layer aside or tie it in a ponytail to temporarily keep it out of the way. Then with the top layer of hair, part it down the middle and take one side (left or right, doesn't matter) and put that in a ponytail to set aside also. Twist the loose part from scalp to tip and roll into a sprial bun. Clip with a claw hair clip. Take the other side out of the pony tail and do the same. After secured, take out bottom layer of hair and straighten. In the end it's supposed to look like two buns on your head with the bottom layer down (lil bro calls it sailor moon knockoff). You can also secure the buns with two hair chopsticks by weaving them through tightly and then removing the clips. Mess up the surface of the bun lightly if you want the buns to look somewhat spiky/messy.
- Another style is to straighten your hair first hand. then take little segments of hair on your crown and make tight curls using a small barrel curling iron. In the end your hair should look stick straight with a few (very few) wisps of curly hair.
- One style that I've always wanted to try but haven't gotten around to yet is to have a mix of bouncy curls and stick straight weaves. What you do is separate layers of hair from the crown starting from the bottom first. Curl one segment of hair with a large barrel curling iron, set aside. Take the next small piece of hair and put hair wax or gel to make it REALLY stick straight. Repeat until finished. I'm not sure how it looks, but I need to try it also!
As for color, what would definitely stand out is if you get your tips done with highlights. Since it's dark brown, you can get a lighter honey brown color for highlights and maybe tips also. But if you're going for that punk look, I'd get the brown highlights but one to three wisps of a bright bold color. Purple, magenta or a vibrant auburn would look nice. The bright colors would look pretty cool for tipping too, like your hair is on fire!

Kepping hair down is cute.. putting your hair up half way with layered hair looks cute and putting it in a clip is real cute too.. i dont know any punk styles.. and i think side way low pony tails look good with some hair in the front hanging down.. much luv dez
