I'm having the same problem. I want a warm feeling in my room, so I'm thinking of a lighter orange

or a deep rose colour.

That way you can tone it down or work with the colour in any way you want.
Just don't get a washed out pale colour unless it's a type of beige. It gets so boring after time and just looks.. dull.

My room is a blueish green, and I love it. I accented with black and white [zebra comforter, black and white pictures on the wall].

Or, try yellow. It's a happy, sunny color that isn't "too young".

Good Luck! =]

I like using the Sherwin-Williams color visualizer, located here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) . What's neat about it is that you can apply each color to a room so that you can see what the color looks like in a massive space, rather than in just a square pallet.
My favorite warm colors from there include 6315 Luxurious Red, 6661 Papaya, 7677 Gold Vessel, 7597 Trek Tan, and 6644 Champagne.

Neutral colors tend to be very soothing and relaxing.

So that would be like gray or brown.. black, too- but that gets depressing.

My sister has her's like lime green, with shapes on the walls in purple, blue, pink, and orange. It's really cool. =]

The person below said orange OR brown, but how about orange AND brown? Like with stripes? ;]
