And the Jewish guys never said the true name of God out loud out of respect because H is more to us than we can ever express in words. [ chaos's advice column | Ask chaos A Question ]
survivingtornadoes answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 8:40 am: Writing G-d is a Jewish custom. They believe that once written the name cannot ever be defaced or destroyed, so they avoid writing it casually to avoid any possible damage to it later. It isnt forbidden to write God, but they chose not to do it casually. [ survivingtornadoes's advice column | Ask survivingtornadoes A Question ]
MFS answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 12:18 am: According to some religions, it is not correct to ever write God, so they use G-d instead. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
Anarchilist answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 12:15 am: Because saying "god" or writing it is considered saying his name in vain. SO people write"g-d" which is silly since "god" isnt god's name.
Some say its Yehweh. [ Anarchilist's advice column | Ask Anarchilist A Question ]
