I'm 10lbs underweight, I need to gain weight. Now that I identified the problem I want to fix it, but I think I have an eating disorder. I hate to eat around other people and some days I don't eat at all. How can I gain weight? I look anorexic.

Drinking slimfast WITH meals does the oppisite effect of what it's made for and causes you to gain weight. Eat 3 meals a day, don't over do it because you can gain weight too fast and it's unhealthy for your heart and body. Rapid weight gain also gives your stretch marks : so take it slow and eat healthy. You can also consider therapy. They'll set you up with an excellent nutritionist who helps A LOT.

I agree that you need to speak with a doctor about your aversion to eating around other people.

In the meantime, to keep yourself somewhat healthy, take vitamins and set aside time where you can eat alone - maybe when you first wake up or right before you go to bed. If you don't have a problem drinking around people, join them for lunch and get a milkshake. Drink "meal in a can" type things, like slimfast or boost. (Slimfast is aimed for people who are trying to loose weight, but a low calorie meal is better than no meal at all.) For quick snacks you can eat just about anywhere, try energy bars. They only take a few min to eat, and tend to have quite a few nutrients in them. You can also carry a sandwich bag with goldfish, graham sticks, trail mix, dry cereal, or anything else that you can grab a handful of and toss in your mouth when you've only got a few min alone.

What you could do is either see youre doctor just to make sure nothing major is wrong like anorexia. then what you could do is keep a food journal. you write down everything thing you eat a day in order and write the time before it. My cousin was so skinny my aunt got her a food journal because my cousin literally looked anerexic. after a month or so she was in shape and was skinny but heathy and no longer anerexic looking. Now this food journal isnt anything special. if you want just use a notebook. something you could keep your records in. hope this helps :) good luck! hope everything works out!;) -xox- *amanda1291*

To gain weight, you need to eat food that has a lot of carbs and calories. I think you should really talk to a doctor about this because it isn't normal that you can't eat in front of people and not eating at all sometimes. Talking to a doctor would be the best advice for you. Hope I helped :)

Well, this would sound like you might want to consider taling to either a doctor or a counselor about this issue - it might be anxiety or some other issue that causes you to feel ill at ease when consuming food around others. I don't think anyone here is equipped to really give you the real help you might need. In all seriousness, talk to a doctor about this.
