Question Posted Tuesday February 1 2005, 10:55 am

17/f
Hey
My bf of two months (I knew him for a year before that though) and my best friend of 5 years, just don't get on. They are always arguing and, to be fair, it is him who always starts the arguements. They have always been like this but it's gotten far worse recently and it's coming to the point where I have to chose between my friend and boyfriend. My friend wins, hands down, but how do I tell my boyfriend that?
Ta muchly!
Jena xxxxx

I say just be up front about it. Tell him that if he makes you choose, he will not be the one chosen.

just flat out, tell him. be honest and tell him that your friendship wiht your friend is worth more, but to avoid this, try hanging out with your bf without your friend.. it will try to avoid the fighting and choosing who. xox

Best thing you can do is to tell your boyfriend this. He has to know. Maybe you could break it to him in a nice understanding way. Just tell him that you know your best friend and him don't get along very well. And maybe he chould stop starting some fights with her. He could be mad because you taking her "side", but he has to know. And if he loves you, he'll understand that your best friend means everything to you. Then maybe he'll stop getting into fights with her for YOU.

I'm not sure how you could tell your boyfriend that, maybe break it to him really really gently, or you could negotiate, you could tell him how you feel about how he treats your friend, you could ask him to be nicer to your friend and that you don't appreciate the way he treats her, tell him if he does not try the least bit, and his attitude does not improve towards her, then your going to have to break up because shes really important to you and you don't like to see her treated like that, hope i helped! good luck!
