Usually both people are sitting, but you can stand I guess. It just depends on what your most comfortable doing.

I haven't given any handjobs in my life, but I was there when a guy was recieving one and both the guy and the girl were standing. (Then again there was nobody home and no neighbors were around, we were on the guys front porch, there were 4 girls and 2 guys...) But yeah... it doesn't really matter, though I've never heard of either of them laying down for it.
