Hi, I need some advice. See, I want to gain weight and get on a healthier diet and stuff. Right now I weigh about 104 and I'm 5'3. I'd like to gain some more weight but not in my stomach, more so everywhere else(legs, arms, butt, etc) So, I was wondering, how do I gain more weight without the weight without it all going to my stomach and still staying healthy? Also, I'd like to be able to have more energy to do activities and stuff but sugary stuff just brings my energy up and then when it goes away, I'm really tired. Is there anything that will make me more naturally energetic? Does anyone have any tips on how I can..

Eat at least 3 portions of fruit a day and try not to sit in the house all the day or on your bum all the time try and walk some more and use the stairs instead of the lifts or walk to your nearest shop instead of using your moms car.
Do excercises. like situps [ kissy's advice column | Ask kissy A Question ]

First of all, get your diet straight. Avoid junk food, stuff that's processed and greasy, and fast food. It might be hard at first but after a while, you will begin to *prefer* good foods! Weird, huh?
Also, drink as much water as you can! A huge percentage of people could lose wieght and feel better just by increasing their water intake. Have a diet that includes lots of vegetables, protein (nuts, lean meats), and whole grain pastas, breads, and cereals. You'll have more energy with this diet.
Secondly, get into a regular exercise routine. Since you want to bulk up a bit, you may want to look into pillates, yoga, or weight lifting to tone and sculpt your body. Check out about.com for some exercising programs and tips for beginners. Just search for "exercise".

Proteins (esp when consumed after a workout) will help you build muscle. However, don't forget to eat complex carbs for energy (brown rice, wheat bread, granola), which also is generally good for you. Stay away from the processed carbs (white bread) and sugars. Fat is okay to have but make sure that it's unsaturated fats which is necessary for skin, nails and other body processes. Omega-3 fats which are in a lot of your "fattier" fish are great for you and are good for your heart too.
If you want to gain weight you want to figure out your basal metabolic rate and then increase your intake by 500 calories a day so then you add about 1 lb a week, which is a good amount. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) (website where you can calculate your basal metabolic rate)
Remember if you do start lifting to only lift every other day so that your body has time to rest and heal. Drink plenty of water (muscle in large part is water).
Wenzie answered Monday January 24 2005, 11:22 pm: Best way is to eat lots of protein then go to the gym and work out, what it does is builds muscle, not fat in all the places you excersize, a good source of protein is in peanuts, meat, and egg whites, but do not use the mass builders basically the shakes and bars and stuff, because once you start on those you have to stay on them to keep the weight on so its hard !
