here's the deal. i'm 16 living in PA. i am meetng with someone friday to discuss being emancipated. yea that sounds horibble but i'm living in an abusive house..to say the least and i cant take it anymore. i have a friend who's mother and father are willing to take me in, so i'd have a house,$,food, all the esentials in life. however all i know about it is that after it's done you're considered an adult,i heard it put as "divorcing your parents", so basically what i'm asking is if anyone knows anything about the laws of PA for it or has any good websites(maybe that i havent found)..i'll be discussing this all with my lawyer but i can't wait til friday..just would like to have some idea of what he is going to tell me before i go in..thank you all so much ..Devin,PA

MFS answered Tuesday January 18 2005, 12:33 pm: If you've not done so yet, talk to a lawyer. Ask around, even call up different law firms that deal in family law. You should be able to at least find someone who is willing to give you some advice to get you moving in the right direction. As it really is essentially "divorcing your parents", it is a legal proceeding - and for that, you'll need legal representation. Make sure you get sound legal advice before you find out that you've gone so far, only to have to go back due to some sort of complication you didn't forsee.
