just doing crunches won't make you lose weight. all that will do is make your stomach muscles stronger. the muscle you gain will help you burn calories, but its probobly not enough to lose 15 lbs. you should run every day and eat more salads when you go out to eat or just eat more healthy foods.(don't stop eating...) but if your gonna try and lose 15 lbs thats a lot and you won't do it by only doing crunches every other day.

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location) is a good site for info on ab training. On how much weight you will lose, I cannot say. Basically, it depends of if you couple your ab training with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet.

One thing you DONT wanna do is to stop eatting, thats very un-healthy, and dont rush things because then you could really hurt yourself. Every other day, do like 50 crunches but not all in a row. Do 2 sets of 25. Try going for runs around your neighborhood or maybe on a tredmil if its to cold outside. Dont over do yourself, and eat healthy! I hope I helped. I did all this and I lost 15 pounds. Good Luck!!!!

I would do about 20-30 a day and them increase the number as you go on. By May or June, I think you'll lose about 10-15 pounds. If you want to lose it faster, try doing an equal number of situps and pushups. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

it would help if you told me your height but,you should probably do like 100 i no it sounds a lot but its worth it and you should do them every day...but really all it does is make your astomach flat and kind of lose your love handles(sp)i think if you did that amount and everyday and eat healthy i would say about 20-30 ish

Ok, crunches will not help you lose to much weight, but it deffinetly will help you make your stomach flatter ! Running and watching what you eat always helps! I use to be pretty big and i lost 10 pounds by going on weight watchers only after 2months ! All i did was get the books and count the points everyday, it doesnt always have to be for extremely fat people i think it is a great plan. Also you should try to do about a hundred a day setting them up into groups of 20 taking a little break and doing another 20 etc. Make sure you drink plenty of water and try to stay away from soda !!! If you do this you most likely will lose 15 by may or june good luck i hope i helped

What is it with everyone talking about "crunches" in all these types of questions?

If you want to lose wieght, picking one exercise and performing it every few days probably isn't going to do jack-shit for you.

You want to lose wieght? Then first, analyze your dietary habits. Then examine if you get enough sleep in a night (people who get little sleep tend to be overweight). Then, get a routine down for exercise - don't just pick one exercise and call it good - get a variety of things in. You need to choose some exercises that can help build endurance, as those tend to burn more calories - like running/jogging. Exercise more than just one area of your body - crunches, while great for toning your abs, don't do SHIT for the rest of you. Try involving some free weights, even a few yoga techniques.

As far as how many reps of any particular exercise you should be doing... start easy and see how it goes. If you think 2 sets of 10 would be fine, then start there. If that's too easy, then do more. Learn your body's limits. If you can jog for 20 minutes no problem, then up it to 25, or try picking up the pace. Learn how to push yourself just enough so that you get a good workout, but don't overdo it.

And again, you have to make sure you're eating right, and getting plenty of sleep while you try all this, otherwise, it won't do you a bit of good.
