Wondering how I should word this to my family

Question Posted Wednesday January 12 2005, 10:43 am

OK soon im going to Florida. Last time I went was when i was 11..and now im 15. So this time, im hoping to be able to walk around the beach and our hotel resort alone to flirt with guys :)
How should I askk my parents to go alone? I dont want to bring any of my younger brothers and I know they might suggest it. If I do meet someone and we decide to meet up later to hang out..I dont want to ask my parents "hey i met this guy ..so im gona go hang out with him now.." because i know they wont allow it. Any ideas to get around that? Thanks so much!

why don't you find a girl around your age get her to hang out with you and go find some guys to flirt with but the girl has to be a "good" influence on you

Find a way to be honest with your parents. You should have a little independence and be able to go for a walk alone. If you meet someone nice, make light plans for a walk and an ice cream and tell your parents. Even if you really like him, don't go anywhere that's not public. There are too many fruitcakes out there and you do need to be safe, that's why you should be honest with your parents. Have fun in FL... I live near Clearwater, work in Tampa... you're gonna love it!

Well, if you ever expect your parents to trust you, trying to sneak around behind their backs is horribly unwise. Why not ask them in a rational manner, attempting to explain that perhaps you'd like the chance to be given a little freedom - sometimes parents can be surprising and allow that. But mind you, you're only 15, and while you think that's plenty old enough, it really isn't nearly as old as you think you are (if that makes any sense).<br>

You're always better off not trying to hide things from your parents (yeah, yeah, I know there are some extreme cases out there where this is actually not the case, but those seem to be rare). One reason is that what you're hiding will ALWAYS come back to bite you in the ass. And reason two - generally, your parents are considerably more aware than you think they are - likely that you won't be able to hide things from them.
