My mother is forcing me to join a gym of some sort, and she wants me to join "weight watchers".. I was wondering if any one knew like what you do at these meeting things. Thanks :)
Moop answered Monday January 10 2005, 8:32 pm: Weight Watchers is a decent program. It follows the food square developed by Robert Baskin (the son of the man who created Baskin Robbins; ironically he went on to preach against fattening foods). My mom is on the weight watchers plan and I eat what she eats. Since she's been on it (about 6 months) I've gone from a size 16 to a size 10. If I can do that not following any particular program (when I did swimming I didn't lose weight; when I was a vegetarian I lost little weight), then weight watchers is something that will make you feel better about yourself. The meetings are basically sound like chatty women's gatherings that I totally abhor. If I was on the actual program I would most likely stop going to them because it's just not me. As for joining a gym, I would suggest excersize on your own first, just to get in the habit. I bike (in good weather) around 40 minutes a day, three days a week. If you are uncomfortable joining a gym because you are shy about working out in front of a guy, you may want to try an all female gym. Check around for places in your area. Most of the time it's more like circuit training but you are only with females.
As for weigh watchers, it's a great idea. It's a good way to strting to eat healthy and shed some extra pounds. Every weeks you go in for a "weigh in" and see if you lost, gained, or stayed the same. It's all about a point system. Certain foods are a certain amount of points. As a teenager you are alotted like 20 points I think (per day). I am sure they will tell you more at the meetings. The meetings just serve as a support group/check up. Be appreciative that your mom signed you -it's expensive! I am sure you'll do just fine. Go to weightwatchers.com for more info. Good luck. :) [ FrEe2bMe's advice column | Ask FrEe2bMe A Question ]

Weight watchers seems like a great program. Its safe, healthy, and not too restrictive. You get to eat whatever you want and they don't put you on "special meals". You just keep track of what you eat and they give you a list of the foods with points. For example higher caloried foods would have a higher point, and low calorie foods have low points. The goal is to get fewer points! Also remember to exercise and stay fit! ♥ [ angel411's advice column | Ask angel411 A Question ]
xoxsweetashley91 answered Monday January 10 2005, 8:18 pm: My mom and sister go there. The first half hour they weigh everyone PRIVATELY. Then the second half hour someone lectures you on good diet plans, healthy foods, etc. Please rate! Hope i helped! [ xoxsweetashley91's advice column | Ask xoxsweetashley91 A Question ]
