aNgeLxfOrEvEr answered Sunday January 9 2005, 2:43 pm: No--a paid account is not needed to be a level 2 or 3 moderator. To be a level 2 moderator, first you have to be a level 1 moderator. You have to be rating questions like crazy and they may promote you to level 2. But they only have 10 or so at a time, so you won't get to be a Level 2 mod for awhile. As for being a level 3, you will probably never be one. You have to be a level 2 first and be experienced and really good on this site. Hope that helped you. You get to be a level 2 moderator if you are already a level 1 and you are good at it etc. You get to be a level 3 if you are a really amazing columnist who is experienced and all that.
