Root Canals
Im going to get a root canal in about a few weeks and im REALLY terrified and scared!! I just went to the dentist today and they drilled my teeth, gave me 2 shots, put a dam on my mouth and pulled out the NERVES! The worst part was the dam adn the shots. Anyways I just want to know waht a root canal feels like and if it hurts on 1 - 10 and if you know any sites that tells about them. Please if you have had a root canal answer if you havent dont because I dont want the wrong information.

I would give it about a 6. But it onlt last for about 2 hours. After you get it you should feel that much pain after the first few days of getting it. Like most pain it gets softer and softer until you cant feel it!

I had a root canal done. I have problems with my jaw so it had to be done over 5 trips to the dentist. Novacaine doesn't usually work on me, so I had to be given two or three shots each time they started to work. Even still you are going to feel pain. Basically they drill into your tooth pull, and twist on the nerve endings so that tooth can't feel anything in the end. Your dentist will be able to explain it alot better, that's just what I felt going on in my mouth.
It sounds like the majority of your root canal is done. Next time you go to the dentist though, ask your dentist to put ambesol on the area the shot will be going into first, to stop the pain. After all the nerves are pulled out, your dentist will fill it up like a regular cavity, but with this weird stuff that is hard like a regular tooth. That part is pretty much painless. What I do to keep my mind off what's going on any time I go to the dentist is see how high I can count. Can you beat 2003?

yes it herts like a 8 but if you need 1 its worth it i had to get 1 cuz i broke my 2 front teath but it only herts like for 2-3 days and then its gone now they pain will kill for thos days dont get me wrong but it will stop and you wont feel it after its over
