i think it was fine, if you didn't feel the same way it was better of you to break up with him and lie to him and say you still love him. it's not if your right its more of your emotions and which you want more. if you felt that it just wasn't working out then i think it was honest that you broke up with him and didn't 2-time him, like most people would do (not sayin you would or anything). i don't think he could hate you for being honest either!
