14/m my parents are always talkin about how bad life used to be for them. They keep telling me how they used to get beaten for everything they did wrong. I know i'm not perfect and i deserve punishment sometimes, but this is torture! I made it known that im not interested in hearing these depressing stories and its like they don't hear me because they keep telling the stories. and its not even like they change it up, cuz they don't. I just got in trouble for saying i didn't want to hear it again about 2 hrs ago. How can i let them know that i don't want to hear the stories anymore? What should i do? plz help. thx

hey man, tell them that it sucks what they went through and you are glad they treat you with respect but it makes you upset to think about how bad they had it and how much if must of sucked for them. and maybe they will get off your back a little bit and ease up on the story telling..if not get a portable cd player and wear it around the house jk, no but talk to them about it but dont be rude when you say it. alrighty!

say you understand that their experences made them who they are and that their life must of had its downs but you want to make your own mistakes and you would rather not hear about theirs and when you say something to them dont act annoyed or mad ...

this is tough..if your parents had such a crummy life..they may never get a clue that well..they DO not have a crummy life now.
Put yourself in their shoes..right now..can YOU imagine getting BEATEN for anything...have you ever even been hit by a parent..let me tell you..it is REALLy bad.
Sit them down..tell them that you FEEL for them..that they had such a bad life..tell them you love them and appreciate them..but the stories are so awful..that You are getting upset just listening to them.
If they keep on...plug your ears and leave the room.
Just be glad that You are not being beaten.

Hey I think you should go tell them that you do not like to hear those stories anymore. It may sound mean at first if you say it like: Hey Mom Dad stop tellin those stupid stories ok! No don't do that. Tell them ay dinner or something.
