Smelly Shoes..

Question Posted Thursday October 28 2004, 1:20 pm

OK.. I've asked this before.. but I need more help..

My shoes smell REALLY bad.. i've tried Odor Eaters.. perfume (3 kinds) and even dr. scholls foot powder stuff..
is there ANYTHING besides washing my shoes .. that will take care of the smell.

Im afraid if i put my shoes in the washer and dryer.. they might come apart.. ive had that happen before..

please help me!! Thanks!

p.s. im goin to try bakin soda right now.. but any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.. and DONT tell me to get new shoes.. mom already so no.. unless I HAVE to

THANKS AGAIN

I've heard baby powder works! For SNEAKERS the dryer would be ok.

Hey,

My friend has the same problem and this may sound odd but she puts news paper in her shoes and it actually works! Also, putting your shoes in the washer dosn't hurt them just don't put them in the dryer and only do this to sneakers. Hope I helped

I just had to look this up on the internet, lol. I love questions that take some time and thought to answer instead of oh my boyfriend dumped me what do I do? lol....Ok, Here are some tips from ppl with the same problem.

*Spray heavily inside with Febreeze and allow to dry overnight. Works on my stinky old feet.

* I just read this in a magazine. Put sneakers in a plastic zip bag and put in freezer overnight.. it is supposed to kill the odors. I don't know if it works !

*Here's a remedy for smelly shoes. Fill a sock with kitty litter (made to absorb odor & wetness), sew or rubberband the end, and place in each shoe. Shoes should be fresher smelling and drier in a few hours.

*Place a sheet of Bounce fabric softener in your shoes overnight so they'll smell great in the morning.

Activated charcoal. You should be able to find it pretty much anywhere. I would not recommend just filling your shoes with it, though. Put the charcoal into breathable cloth bags, stuff those into your shoes, then place the stuffed shoes into a plastic bag and tie the bag off tightly. Leave them sit for a few days if possible.
Febreeze might also help.
Other thing to try - put your shoes in a plastic bag, tie it off, and place them in the freezer overnight. This can kill the bacteria that cause the odors.

My shoes became quite offensive once I really started getting into DDR. That's a lot of sweat they had to absorb. Now, washing my shoes always worked, but if I had to think of an alternative, baking soda would work. Also, put a napkin between your foot and the shoe to absorb some moisture, and just throw it out after a while.
