How to keep your money?

Question Posted Friday October 15 2004, 11:57 am

I'm 15 years old and currently have a job that pays $5.80/hour...8 hours a day...that means around $40. I work 5 days a week and the paychecks are every two weeks. What would you do to keep from spending all your money at once? Please help...

So that's like, a $4OO paycheck? When you go to cash your check, just have them put $3OO - $35O in your savings account and only take money out of there when you really need to.

Definately put your money in the bank. Open a savings account and put a limit on your withdrawals(it should ask you on the paper)And to make even more money, you could buy a CD. If you buy one for $50, then in a certain amount of time, say 5 years, it will worth $100. You get your money back, plus you make a $50 dollar profit. Ok, I know its not much money, but it accomplishes two things: Keeps you from spending your money, and makes you a little but more money. Goodluck!
PS- heres a quote for you "A fool and his money are soon parted"

i wouldn't spend your money all at once save your money for something you really want and once you see something you really want buy it and get it before it is gone cause once it is gone then you will probably won't find it again and you will be mad have your parents hold onto your money so you can't spend it all at once or if you have a account in the bank you could put it in there untill you are ready to spend it and once you are take it out of your account or you could have your older brother or sister hold the money if you have any brothers or sisters.

I'd make an organized way of splitting up money. If you get 40 bucks a week, make $20 of that yours to spend every week. Let the other money just build up until a big shopping day where you WANT to spend that money or you NEEd something like clothes, sports equipment, jewelrey, something you really want and need to pay for by yourself. Let yourself spend 20 a week if even and put 20 away safely in a box of yours or something you own. If you get organized, things will totally work out for you, you just have to try hard and give it some time.

The fact that you work alone is awsome!

Do automatic deposit. The bank can split your check however you like, and half can go into a savings account, and the rest can go into your checking account. If you never get you hands on the money, you can't spend it.

Hi there. I know what you mean about spending money like crazy. I make about $4OO.OO a paycheck also. Where do you work by the way?

Anyways, what I did was I got a savings account and put 70% of the money in there and then kept the rest out as play money. That would work because I knew my alloted amount.

However, I just bought a car and with that and insurance, my play money is VERY limited, we're talking to around $3O.OO per paycheck. It's not bad though, because I got a cool car =)

But yes, try to open a savings account, that'd be my best advice. Let me know how things go!

Good Luck,

Em
