Question Posted Saturday September 25 2004, 3:40 pm

I live in this small town and everyone is all in everyone's buisness(well the adults are). Anyway, I have big dreams and I really like to accomplish those things. I'm a little smart and people seem to detest me at my school because, I don't get on my hands and knees to try to please them. I have a rule for myself and that rule is to trust my instincts and I really stick to that rule at times. I'm content with who I am , and I am independent . Last year I was friends with a guy and he had a girlfriend . He told me the most ridiculous things about his family, and the thing is that I always stuck with it (although I am in doubt). I support my friends. Last year, I liked this guy, and we used to look at each other and court other people to make each other jealous, but he did that the most. He became popular and became a jock and all, and he's really good at manipulating situations, I guess because we both play chess . Anyways, he goes with another girl and when I saw them together, it stung . It hurt and there's days that I feel as if I'm over him . Recently , I've been wearing make-up and that friend with the most ridiculous things to say- says I needed to take it off but others just stared and gawked at me . Everywhere I went eyes followed and the guy I like looks at me just when I have my head turned . I saw him do this in a mirror . I need tips on how to get over this dude, and why people don't like me . I'm not stuck up. Also, why's my guyfriend acting like a jerk towards me and why can't he be happy for me ? He has a girlfriend . My friend said it was because, he couldn't keep his eyes off of me . Should I stop the make-up thing to save our relationship ? Well, thanks and by .

You need to have a serious talk with your guy friend, because it seems as if he likes you, but he shouldnt have 1. asked someone else out, and 2. he shouldnt make a funk about your personal choices. For girls, make up is like personal hygine. If you ask him why he feels that way, then atleast half of your questions will be answered. Feel free to ask me more questions!

What! He(your friend) should NOT be mad at you because you are wearing makeup. You can do what you want, and if wearing makeup boosts your confindence or you do it for whatever. Keep wearing it. Its your face, your life, your makeup! Only way to get rid of liking guys is time. Give it a few months and you'll be over him and the new guy you like will be John Smith:) If you know what I mean.

Umm... you're independant? right? Well why would you go and stop wearing make up juts to save your friendship? That would be against everything you stand for. Do you. If you feel confident in that makeup then thats all that matters. Your friend should stick by you with this new thing you are doing just like you stick by everything he does. if he can't do that, then he is a messed up friend. I don't know why people don't like you. Sometime when a person is very independant and carries themself well, it intimidates people. So maybe they don't actually dislike you, they just don't understand why you are so mature and the only way they can deal with that is by choosing to "dislike" you. Very imature, huh? But this is not a reason for you to go and change your ways. Your ways are good. Stay straight and stand tall, don't change yourself for anyone. People have to like you for you, and if they don't... oh well! And as for that dude you can't over, don't worry, you are still young, you will get over him, these things just happen with time, everything is a process.
