teeth and pregnancy

Question Posted Wednesday September 22 2004, 2:34 pm

Okay, I know that when your pregnant you can not take any medications other than Tylenol. I also know, you can't get any work done on your teeth because you can't receive x-rays or novacaine either. The problem is some of my teeth, in teh back on the left side, hurt really bad. I don't know if it hurts from lack of calcium or becasue I have cavities. When I ever I drink something cold, it hurts even worst. Does anyone know anything I can do to make the pain stop?

Sometimes it's because you ate foods that were too sugary and the plaque is affecting you teeth, or because you are lacking calcium, as you said. Drink some tea, but instead of boiling water, boil milk and add a teabag. Then add some honey and stir up and drink. I recommend Lipton Lemon Tea. Or you can drink Hot Chocolate with milk (substitute boiling water for boiling milk). But if it is because of plaque buildup, then brush your teeth with tootpaste for 2 minutes then gargle mouthwash (I recommend Listerine).

You should go to the dentist anyways and have that checked out. I'm pretty sure that they can find away around you being pregnant and fix your problem. If not, maybe try putting some baby-gel on it to numb your tooth =)

You should see your doctor and ask him/her what you can do to ease the pain just a bit. You could be developing a cavity, or your teeth could just be really sensitive right now!
