what is the difference between a flat iron and a straightener..and which one works better? don't say they're the same thing because I know they're not =) thanks!

Flat irons work best.
And like a couple people said, get a CHI!
I bought one from my hair salon a year ago and honestly, it was the best investment i have ever made!! I used to hate leaving the house with my hair down, because my hair was curly and frizzy.. now, i always get so many compliments on my hair and friends asking to use it because of how straight and healthy my hair looks! :)

It's pretty much the same 'cept flat irons work way better. They make your hair REALLY straight. But they're really $$ expensive $$.

They are pretty much the same thing the only difference that I know of is the flat iron makes your hair more flat and silky. I didn't even know there was a difference until my best friend told me

A flat iron is way thicker then a straightener. The flat iron is way more better, but a lot more money.. but it works really well. It's like an iron for black people hair that makes it poker straight.

a flat iron is the same thing basically as a straightner. and it also depends on what kind of hair you have. i use a straightner with steam so my hair will still be soft but straight and it doesnt damage your hair as much. and i have kinda wavy blonde hair...so it depends! lol

Well a flat iron is a chi- and chi gets hotter faster and just straightens it alot better- a chi is also smaller then a straightner- a straigtner straigtens your hair good just not as fast and straight as a chi- you can get a chi @ any beauty salon!

I was pretty sure they were the same thing, because they achieve the same goal- straight hair. Generally ceramic plated flat irons or straightening irons work best, but are usually more expensive.

A flat iron usually comes with attachments. Like one that makes your hair small crimped, one big wavey crimps, one straight, and maybe a cool design. A straightener is just for people with curler hair and JUST straightens. And it also flips your hair, but it doesn't have the little design attatchment. Hope I helped!

Personally, I think a flat iron works a heck of a lot better and is faster too. At first, have someone help you with it because it gets really hot and is dangerous - could burn you!
So, have someone help you with it and then your hair will look absolutely fabulous! =)

Honestly, they are exactly the same thing. They have those double handles, they heat up, and you press them on your hair and press down, so that it gets straight. So a flat iron IS a straightener, people just sometimes call is that. And flat irons are the best. they straighten your hair way better than a blow dryer.
