lovelyrita answered Wednesday September 1 2004, 3:38 pm: Um...belief in God is not required to get married, at least not in the United States (or anywhere else I know of), and though I'm sure there are many atheist goths, not all goths are atheists. Many enjoy making statements through their appearance by, for example, piercings, tattoos and dramatic clothing. None of this has anything to do with religion - a goth can be a Christian, an atheist or a member of any other religion. So if a goth is a Christian they would marry in a Church in a normal religious ceremony.
If your asking about how atheists get married (i.e. people who just don't believe in God), the amswer is that you can be married by a registrar in a civil ceremony (which can be conducted in many places as long as they are licensed - hotels, beaches, etc.) where the couple makes the same promises as in a Christian ceremony minus the specifically religious ones. I hope I helped. [ hailebop's advice column | Ask hailebop A Question ]
