Question Posted Sunday August 22 2004, 7:52 pm

Well I already asked a question on my depression. But yeah... I'm scared to tell my parents' about it. It doesnt seem like they would take it seriously or do much about it. I'm so scared. I don't feel very comfortable telling my parents either. Its so severe though I feel I really need help. I cry at night and I can't get to sleep, I'm so insecure about myself (looks and everything else about me), I don't like kids my age so I don't have many friends (and the few that I have are older which sucks because I can't be with them much). Basically I just hate life in general and I never feel like doing anything... all I do is sit arounf the house all day. And my depression is not like i just get it sometimes... I'm like going through it (a year and a half almost ago is when my really trajic depression started). I don't know what to do... help? Thanks so much

ok, i'm new at this but if it helps, i went though serious depression too. first of all, don't drink (alchol)- it truly doesn't help, don't cause yourself bodily harm, as in cutting yourself or attemtd suicide, please don't do these, i did. what i did was i talked to a counsler and (i got gained ALOT of weight during depression) got involved in camps and sports to try to keep my mind of depressing things; try reading and drawing too, it'll take your mind off things.remember you might not think or feel it at the moment, but people REALLY need and love you, i hope to god this helps. you can beat your depression, i promise:)love and hope!-kelly

You should really try to find something that brings you happiness. Maybe there's something that you like to do or a place that you like to go, something that will make you feel better. You should also try to find someone to talk to, it doesn't have to be your parents, just someone that you trust.

Dont worry you are not alone.
If you dont feel comfortable telling your parents you dont have to. I went to therapy and didnt tell my parents because they think its a joke and wouldnt of taken it seriously.
You can go see a therapist on your own, you dont need your parents for that. I dont know whether you live in canada or the states but if you live in canada you can go see your family doctor about your depression and he will refer you to a therapist and you wont have to pay. If you end up having to pay for it then just sit your parents down and tell them that you really are concerned about your depression and need help. Im sure if your concerned then your parents will be concerned.
Good luck and hope i helped.
let me know if you need anything else.

I know how that feels I have been there. It's hard soemtimes because you want to get out of it and you don't know what you should do. Well I think that you should try and go out once in a while so that way you are at least getting out of the house. Then try to stay in touch with your friends over the phone. So that way you know what is going on with them. You can also bring up getting together once in a while when they are not busy so that is another thing that yu could do. Hopefully after getting together with your friends once in a while will get you out of being depressed. If you have any more questions or problem don't be afraid to ask.

I would ask your parents to make an appointment with your doctor to maybe give you something for your depression and if they ask why tell them its something you need to discuss with your doctor first.Or maybe even though your nervous you can ask your parents for conseuling with other kids who are going through the same thing.I really hope you get better!let me know how it turns out.

well what you should do is try to make friends your own age perhaps maybe not even around you but maybe go out and make friends else where to where you can have fun and to talk about the troubles you have or you can get online friends and talk to them about it even its just that you need to get some friends and talk to them about it is all and the friends you have now is to where you can talk to them too dont think that since they are older you cant talk to them you need to so you can help you with your problems. I hope i helped.
