Hey, I feel really stupid asking this question..But I have been having a hard time trying not to cut myself. I've been trying to find other ways to cop with it and I picked a bad way to to it by taking pills. Does anyone out there know any ways to deal with it? Is there somthing I can do to take it off my mind?? I'm already seeing a theripst and it doesnt help it all. If there is any advice u can give me I would really appreicate it! -Jenny

Cutting just hurts yourself and hurts yourself inside. It doesn't take pain away it doesn't help at all. I'm sure you are such a doll and everyone loves you but think, what if you went to far deep day and you actually DIED. Realize that you only have one life to live and look at the people that love you. And pills won't help either. Just don't cut! It doesn't solve ANYTHING and it deffinietly doesn't take pain away. It's important to find a professional you can trust; it often takes time to build a relationship with that person, but if they are wrong - ie making sarcastic comments or even just not giving you the support you need - it is totally appropriate to talk to your parents about getting a different therapist.
Other possiblities are joining a group of teenagers with similar problems; the main thing is realizing you are not alone. Other people face this issue, and everyone handles it differently. [ alisonmarie's advice column | Ask alisonmarie A Question ]
mgh12 answered Saturday August 7 2004, 4:40 pm: you could try cutting some paper or if your parents know try and have them hide all the sharp objects around the house. or talk to your friends, friends are always there to talk about your problems, if you fell safe talking about it. i hope i helped! *marielle* [ mgh12's advice column | Ask mgh12 A Question ]

soccachick432 answered Friday August 6 2004, 1:00 am: I had a friend who has tried cutting herself. Just when your feeling depressed dont come to that do something so cutting and pills wont come to your mind try talking to a friend thats very helpful or listen to any type of music you like to ease your mind . Also whatever hobbies/interests you have do one of those to take your mind off of things because cutting and pills may ease the pain you are feeling at the moment buts its just temporary and not good for you. hope i helped=)
