well you should call your vet. your grandpa was rite that you needed to burry them. but just consult wid ur vet. ]
i think thats right because sea tutles go to the sandy beaches, lay their eggs and leave. The eggs get covered in sand I think. So i your granfather was right ]
Painted turtles are not like the huge sea turtles that bury their eggs in the sand. You could have kept them in the cage, but unless you have a male and a female turtle in the cage at the same time, these eggs were not going to hatch anyway. A male has to be there to fertilize the eggs. If this was the case, then the eggs are most likely damaged, but you could try to save them. ]
You should try searching online about painted turtles, and how to care for eggs. I know that sea turtles bury they're eggs, but I don't know if it goes for all turtles.
They might not even hatch because, a lot of times, animals can lay eggs, but without a male around to fertilize them, they are basically useless. ]
You should have left them there, it shouldn't do any harm. ]
umm i dont think your suppose to put painter turtles eggs in sand or dirt.. i think thats a different type of turtle!!
