ok the other day my lil brothers painted turtle laid eggs in the water of its tank. but we didnt know what to do! so we did what my grandfather told us to do. we buried them in the dirt and we r waiting for them to hatch! is that we did right? please i need help fasst!!!!!
Ronlina answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 11:36 am: Painted turtles are not like the huge sea turtles that bury their eggs in the sand. You could have kept them in the cage, but unless you have a male and a female turtle in the cage at the same time, these eggs were not going to hatch anyway. A male has to be there to fertilize the eggs. If this was the case, then the eggs are most likely damaged, but you could try to save them. [ Ronlina's advice column | Ask Ronlina A Question ]
selectopaque answered Monday August 2 2004, 5:45 pm: You should try searching online about painted turtles, and how to care for eggs. I know that sea turtles bury they're eggs, but I don't know if it goes for all turtles.
