Every woman is different; however, most will experience some discharge all month long, with the colour and thickness changing when you ovulate (the middle of your cycle).

The best thing to do is buy a small calender you can keep in a drawer. When you have your period, circle the day. Use the calender to write down things about your body - if your breasts are sore, if you have cramps, what your discharge looks like.

In a few months, you'll have a pretty accurate record of what is normal for your body.

Well your discharge usually changes (gets heavier, slightly changes colour etc) when you're about to have your period. If that helps at all. :)

It honestly could be either. For me before I got my first period I was discharging like crazy for a few monthes. Now I discharge pretty heavy the day before my period and a few days in the middle of my cycle. It's hard to predict if this discharging means your periods coming, unless you know how your body usually acts monthly.

You will most likely get your period in a week or less. That is usually what a heavy discharge means.
