If you know him from school or whatever, go talk to him. You've talked, technically, through IM. In-person speech isn't that different...there just aren't any typos and "lol"s. Nothing to lose!

I've done the same thing... talked to a hot guy on the computer and then go out with him... he's such a sweet guy but it didn't work out. DEFINATLY talk to him before your feelings get any stronger, take a chance to know him.
