first off, depending on the age, you have to have patience. and a lot of it. usually, if its a baby or toddler you're taking care of, you wont need as much. but the older the child gets, the more annoying they get. second, keep them occupied 24/7 and out of your hair. put a movie in, or let them watch TV. if they're hyperactive and wont stop making noise, take them outside to blow off some excess energy. race them, throw a ball with them, and then give them a snack and then try the movie thing.

above all, be firm but fair. don't be too laid back, and don't be too harsh. if you're harsh, the child will hate you and tell their parents how mean you were. if you're too laid back, they'll take advantage of you. you have to find that solid, middle ground that is comfortable for both you and the kid you're watching.

good luck. :)

Well, if ur babysitting at somebody elses house than remember to clean up the kids messes. Do not leave the kids alone for a second. Make sure you have the parents cell phone number too. Hope this helps!

baby sitting can be really fun!!! just as long as you know what you're doing!! its great for summer jobs and its a quick way to make good money!! its best to start with someones kids who you know so you'll have their trust from the start!! remember you want to make it fun for the kids!! make it so they want you to come back! also a great way to advertise is if your hair cuttery has a bulliten board..put fliers up there!! you'll probably get alot of calls because soo many parents looks at that stuff!!

Why, grandma, how specific you are!
Baby sitting is pretty much just watching other ppl's kids to make sure that they're taken care of... also involves feeing, the occasional diaper changing, and sometimes putting them to sleep.

yes, a babysitting course would be great to attend before starting to go into the babysitting industry :] it all depends on how many and how old the children are that you babysit. I, myself, have had to babysit my younger sisters all the time, so I've learned to become alert. Emergencies will occationally happen, but if you're prepared for it, babysitting will become a whole lot easier.

Ya I love babysitting! It's so much, but it's also a lot of responsibilty. You need to make sure you are ready to be able to be alone with a child and be able to take care of it if anything goes wrong. But it's alot of fun. There are also classes to learn more about babysitting and they show you different things to do in different situations!
