Question Posted Thursday May 13 2004, 11:47 am

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

I think a question about stupid questions might very well fall into that category.

Stupid is a very relative term. For instance, you might think Person 1 is stupid because their IQ is lower than yours. Person 2 might think you're stupid for some other reason. I hate the word "stupid." I really do.
But I always say "The only stupid questions are the ones left unasked," So I believe there are stupid questions if you don't ask them. Anything expressed is not stupid, then, by default. Lol.

Stupid people ask the same kind of questions that smart people ask - ones they don't know the answer to.

There are stupid questions, but what decides this is the seriousness of the question being asked.

Magenta answered Thursday May 13 2004, 2:13 pm:
Stupid is relative. What's stupid to you may in fact be very sensible to Bob. And if Bob is, in fact, stupid (although this is relative to your perseption of "stupid"), his question may be very msart considering Bob's normal stupidity level. Therefore there really is no stupid question, as we cannot say what "stupid" really means. And your comment may have offended Bob, who I must point out is just a hypothetical character. Bob might think that your question is stupid.
