Bleh. If your not that fat...then don't hurt yourself. There's nothing bad with a little weight on a woman.

But if you are, no offence, then just start slowly. First, take two minutes of jogging or walking. Skip if it helps. Eat what you want--your starting off.

Then, after a few days, challenge yourself. Five minutes, ten. Maybe a few Push-ups?

So, now you have to start watching what your eating. Try not to eat after 8PM. Cut off some foods--whatever you want--maybe look up online "How to be a Vegetarian?"

And always, always, ALWAYS have someone or a lot of people to support you.

Keep a diary to record some things--And good luck! :)

I'm with you on this one. I've been trying to diet, well not really diet, but eat only when I'm truely hungry and stop when I'm full. It seems to be working except that I get cravings all the time, so when ever I get the earge to snack on something I drink a full glass of water, with that I'm getting that whole 8 glasses of water a day thing, so that's good. I exercise in P.E. 3 days a week and I try to on weekends.
Hope that helps. BTW I'm 14 and on the same boat. If you wanna chat sometime my Email is Paracity8587@aol.com

I've struggled all my life with my weight, too, so I know what I'm talking about.
First talk to your mother/father/guardian/trusted adult. Ask them to make you an appointment with your doctor to discuss healthy ways to loose weight. Maybe your doctor could recommend a HEALTHY diet or a program like Weight Watchers. Exercise is a must in order to lose weight, keep weight off, and to have a healthy, toned body. Diets will do you NO GOOD WITHOUT EXERCISE. If you start exercising now, you will improve your heart health and lessen your risk of illness later on. Yes your young, but I wish I had started taking care of myself when I was your age because the longer you excercise in your life, the healthier your adulthood will be.
Please remember that to lose weight and keep it off, it will be slow. Losing weight too fast makes you gain it faster and causes you to actually gain much more in the long run (trust me, I've made the crash diet mistake losing lots then gaing it plus more back).
Get a hobby to keep you busy, it sounds like you are eating out of boredom. But not a tv or computer hobby b/c you can eat then. Take up something to keep your hands busy, like knitting. (All the stars knit, plus you can make gifts for people or stuff for yourself).
Good luck

Omg you sound exactly like me! Okay what you gotta do is actually *force* yourself to stop eating. It's going to be hard but only eat when you feel hungry. Otherwise the fat will continue to build up. Think about it, which would you want more.. good food for 5 minutes? Or a skinnier body for life?

Here-To-Help answered Saturday January 10 2004, 11:05 pm:
Maybe you just think you're overweight.

But if it's really obvious and you know you are, you should do something about it.
If you really want to lose weight, set goals for yourself. You should excercise. Stick post-it-notes on your wall saying "2 times around my block = 1 snack". That way you motivate yourself to do better. Also...once you start to lose weight, and don't eat as much (but still eat healthy)then you should start doing crunches, jumping jacks, pushups...and keep motivating ytourself with the post-it-notes.
I do pushups about 15 minutes after I eat SOMETIMES. It helps a lot and you feel so refreshed afterwards.
Just don't not eat. You don't want to go there. Don't be intimidated by the fake girls on the magazines. AIRBRUSHING?...nobody's that pretty.
Also, at this age it's normal to put on weight. I'm starting to gain some...doesn't necessarily mean i'm overweight, but it's normal.
Just keep it up. Just like your new years resolution is to lose weight...mine is to come out of my shell and be more outgoing. You feel like you can't help it, and that's the same way I feel. But if it's a New Years Resoultion, that means it's important to you, and that means that you have a better shot at achieving that goal.

Some ideas:

Tape a note to your fridge about snacking.

Make your snacks healthier (fruit is good for you and still tastes great, for example).

If you can't stop eating often, eat less at one time.

Take smaller portions (use smaller plates to make it seem the same).

Don't just eat things because they're there... try to keep in mind that you don't have to finish all your food.

You could try changing what you eat... munch on stuff with lots of roughage (e.g. celery, whole-grain whatevers, etc.), drink water when you're thirsty and have normal meals. You'll still be eating, but your body won't be packing away excess energy (read: producing fat) nearly as fast.

Exercise (even just vowing to always take the stairs, and get on and off the bus a stop or two away from the closest stop) can also be helpful, I would think. Of course, if you're lucky enough to be in a bicyclable climate this time of year, biking everywhere is an even better plan... and it's often faster than public transit or bumming a ride.
