AS Chemistry revision

Question Posted Friday December 5 2003, 5:17 am

I have a internal test in a weeks time on organic chemistry and I have realised that although I understand the work at the time I seem to be completly stumped when presented with a question to work through. Does anyone have any good rvision sites or tips?

Or a miracle...

nadnerb- that IS how you spell revision.

I'm doing vocab flashcards and practice questions for my revision and it's not going too badly. Get people to test you so that you can give the answers and not just learn them passively.

The best way to get the work you need is by your teacher. Ask for some work you can use for some xtra help. But I decided to surf yahoo search and I found some webpages you can use at www.ksw.org.uk/departments/chemistry/ Glad to be a help!

Probably the problem you're having is a difficulty translating the question from format to format--that is, understanding the information in Work format vs. Question format. Try working backwards through the question as soon as you understand it in the work. When you get back to your base equation, you have your test question. Try explaining the questions to someone else, or paraphrasing the bookwork in terms that aren't going in circles. The more interesting/weird way you present the material to your brain, the harder it will stick.

As to the miracle, light a yellow candle and beg Isis for a little intellectual inspiration.

Have you tried talking to some of your classmates? Maybe you could get them to help you understand. Try a study session with someone you trust.
